Get plain text:

curl -H "Accept: text/plain" https://jugoya.ai/guides/instagram/view-post

Overview

View Instagram posts and close modal dialogs to access full content. This guide covers accessing posts without logging in and handling overlay dialogs.

Initial Access

Navigate directly to the post URL:

https://www.instagram.com/\{username\}/p/\{post_id\}/

Handling Modal Dialogs

Instagram displays a "See more from {username}" modal dialog when viewing posts without login.

Close Modal

Look for the "Close" button (typically in the top-right corner of the modal). The modal overlay prevents interaction with the main content until closed.

Content Access

After closing the modal:

  1. Post Text: Visible in the main content area under the username and timestamp
  2. Images: Displayed in the post content section
  3. Carousel Posts: May show multiple images with carousel indicators

Key Elements

  • Username link: Links to the profile page
  • Timestamp: Shows when the post was created (e.g., "2w" for 2 weeks ago, or full date)
  • Post caption: Full text content with hashtags as clickable links
  • Engagement buttons: Like, Comment, Share, Save (require login to use)

Common Use Cases

Finding Recent Announcements

  1. Navigate to profile page: https://www.instagram.com/\{username\}/
  2. Click the most recent post image
  3. Close the modal dialog
  4. Read the post caption for announcements (e.g., business hours, special events)

Business Announcements

Instagram is commonly used by businesses to announce:

  • Holiday operating hours
  • Special events
  • Temporary closures
  • Menu/service changes

The post caption often contains detailed text information even when the image shows a designed poster.

Technical Notes

  • No login required: Posts are publicly viewable
  • Modal appears once: After closing, it won't reappear during the session
  • Direct URLs work best: More reliable than navigating through the profile page
  • JavaScript rendering: Instagram is a React application, requires JavaScript execution
