Overview

Create a Twitch account using Google OAuth authentication. No email verification required when using Google signup.

Prerequisites

  • Google account
  • Access to Google account for OAuth verification

Signup Flow

Step 1: Navigate to Twitch

  1. Go to https://www.twitch.tv
  2. Click Sign Up button in the header (top right)

Step 2: Choose Google OAuth

The signup modal appears with options:

  • Email address input
  • Phone number option
  • Google logo Sign up with Google - Click this
  • Amazon logo Sign up with Amazon
  • Apple logo Sign up with Apple

Step 3: Google Account Selection

  1. A new tab opens with Google account chooser
  2. Select your Google account or click "Use another account"
  3. If prompted for verification (recovery phone changed, etc.), complete verification

Step 4: OAuth Consent

Google consent screen shows:

  • "Sign in to Twitch"
  • Account email displayed
  • Privacy Policy and Terms of Service links
  • Click Continue to authorize

Step 5: Complete Twitch Profile

After OAuth, the Google tab closes and Twitch shows "Join Twitch today" modal:

  1. Username: Enter desired username (e.g., my_username)
  2. Birthday: Select month, day, and year from dropdowns
    • Status shows "Date of birth is valid." when complete
  3. Click Sign up button

Step 6: Verification Complete

After clicking Sign up:

  • Modal closes automatically
  • Header changes from "Log In / Sign Up" to user avatar
  • "Following" link appears in navigation
  • Chat input becomes available

Notes

  • Google OAuth is faster than email signup (no email verification)
  • Birthday is required for age verification
  • Username can be changed later in settings
  • Account is immediately active after signup
